Poring over the NCAA’s previous ticketing campaigns for an RFP, the Creative Director and I noticed a problem: every spot relied on in-game broadcast footage to advertise tickets for…in-person attendance. In other words, the NCAA was undermining its own message.

To underscore the campaign’s objective to sell tickets, we put together a concept that focused on fans — “you make the game” — while celebrating the one-of-a-kind experience of attending an NCAA event, from the raucous, often eccentric crowds to the you-just-had-to-be-there moments.

We won the pitch and have been the NCAA Championship Division’s agency of record since 2019, producing over 200 unique spots a year across dozens of men’s and women’s sports.

We’ve overcome unprecedented challenges in the NCAA campaign since 2019, from COVID-19 to complex legal hurdles around Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). Through it all, we’ve continued to focus on NCAA fans, a creative approach that’s proven to be as resilient as it is iterative.

After developing the Comeback campaign to address COVID-related disruptions, I’ve taken a step back as lead writer but continue to play an active role in long-term strategy and creative development, punching up scripts and serving as Creative Director for the pitch to renew our partnership with NCAA in 2022.
